(Verse 1)
I talk too fast, I talk too much,
I can’t pick a lick, just my luck
And I’m always runnin’ late, too many boots to choose,
And my gossip game’s strong, Lord, that ain’t no news.

But honey, when it comes to the kitchen, you see,
That’s where I shine, that’s where I’ll be.
So if you’re hungry for love, pull up a chair,
‘Cause my fried chicken’ll show ya I care!

(Chorus)
I know I’m flawed, but my brisket ain’t,
Ain’t no one around here got room to complain.
Boys, you might roll your eyes when I talk,
But I’ll win you over with my barbecue sauce!
From biscuits to gravy, peach cobbler that’s sweet,
You might find me loud, but you’ll love my eats!

(Verse 2)
I’m always right, even when I’m wrong,
And I might turn a small fight into a song.
I’m a little bit bossy, a lot dramatic,
But when it comes to cornbread, I’m automatic.

Yeah, I shop too much, my closet’s full to the brim,
But my apple pie will make ya grin.
So while I might drive you crazy with all my chatter,
You’ll stay for seconds, and that’s what matters!

(Chorus)
I know I’m flawed, but my ribs ain’t,
Ain’t no one around here got room to complain.
Boys, you might roll your eyes when I talk,
But I’ll win you over with my barbecue sauce!
From ribs to potato salad, that’s hard to beat,
You might find me bossy, but you’ll love my eats!

(Bridge)
Now, I might be a handful, that’s true,
But when my catfish hits your plate, you won’t feel so blue.
So if my talkin’s too loud and my laugh’s a little unstable,
Just grab another biscuit and head for the table!

(Verse 3)
I get a little jealous, yeah, I’ll confess,
When you smile at someone else, I get a hot mess.
But don’t you fret, I’ll keep it sweet,
Just like my buttermilk pie, you won’t miss a beat.

And if my green eyes flare, you’ll hardly know,
‘Cause my pot roast is stealing the show.
So while I’m jealous, boy, I’ll still play nice,
You’ll forgive it all after just one slice!

(Chorus)
I know I’m flawed, but my biscuits ain’t,
Ain’t no one around here got room to complain.
Boys, you might roll your eyes when I talk,
But I’ll win you over with my barbecue sauce!
From biscuits to gravy, peach cobbler that’s sweet,
You might find me loud, but you’ll love my eats!

(Outro)
So, yeah, I’m not perfect, but I know this truth,
If my kitchen’s my stage, honey, I’m bulletproof.
So come on over, grab a fork and a seat,
‘Cause boys, you know this girl sure knows what ya like to eat!

(Verse 4)
I’m really hopin’ ya like peach cobbler,
Warm peaches and a crust that’s proper.
Golden, buttery, baked just right,
With a scoop of ice cream to sweeten the night.

Ain’t nothin’ says “pick me” quite the same,
As a homemade cobbler callin’ your name.
So if my charm don’t make you see,
This peachy treat will have ya’ pickin’ me!

Peach Cobbler and Me – Lyrics and Music by Alan Nafzger

Podcast Title: “Cowgirl Conversations”
Host: Daisy Mae Jackson, the sassy, no-nonsense country music blogger and podcaster
Guest: Alan Nafzger, screenwriter and satirical mind behind the new hit country song, Peach Cobbler

Intro music fades, sounds of acoustic guitar and laughter in the background.

Daisy Mae (Host):
“Well howdy, y’all! It’s another fine day here at Cowgirl Conversations where we’re servin’ up the hottest country music gossip, fresh off the grill. Today, I’ve got a real treat for you—almost as sweet as the name suggests. Y’all might’ve heard the buzz about a little tune called Peach Cobbler takin’ the country airwaves by storm. And no, this ain’t a dessert recipe! Joining me today is the mastermind behind that song, Alan Nafzger—who, let’s be honest, has whipped up more wit and satire than a rodeo clown in a philosophy class.”

Laughter

Daisy Mae:
“Alan, thanks for bein’ here! Now, let’s cut straight to the chase, cowboy. Where in the world did you come up with the idea for Peach Cobbler? I mean, I can’t decide if I want to sing along or go bake somethin’!”

Alan Nafzger:
“Well, Daisy, first off, I’m real honored to be here. Peach Cobbler was actually born out of two of my greatest loves—country music and, you guessed it, food. I’m no stranger to humor and satire, but this time I wanted to create something relatable. What’s more relatable than a woman who knows she’s got a few quirks, but makes up for it with her cooking? And well, peach cobbler seemed like the perfect metaphor for life’s messiness.”

Daisy Mae:
“You mean like how a good peach cobbler is all sweet and gooey, but sometimes a little too sticky to handle?”

Alan Nafzger:
“Exactly! It’s like life, right? We’re all a little messy, but the sweetness makes it worthwhile. And for this song, the character’s thinking, ‘Yeah, I’ve got flaws, but honey, you’ll stick around for the cobbler.’ It’s that blend of self-awareness, charm, and a little cheekiness.”

Daisy Mae:
“Y’know, I’ve been listening to this song on repeat, and I have to ask—you’ve written a lot of satire and edgy scripts, but country music’s kinda new for you, right? So how’d you make the jump from film scripts to writing lyrics about peach cobbler and biscuits and all that?”

Alan Nafzger:
“You’re right, country music isn’t my usual arena. But the thing is, satire and country both have a lot in common: they’re both all about storytelling, truth-tellin’, and pokin’ fun at ourselves. I just saw this huge potential in country music to say something real while also makin’ people laugh. Plus, you can never go wrong talkin’ about food in a song. I mean, people love food metaphors. And in the country, food is more than food—it’s how we communicate. You invite someone over for a meal, you’re sharing a piece of yourself.”

Daisy Mae:
“So, you’re sayin’ peach cobbler is, what? A love language?”

Alan Nafzger (laughing):
“Absolutely! If you can make someone the best peach cobbler, you’re practically proposing marriage at that point.”

Daisy Mae:
“Ha! No lies there! Now, let’s talk about the character in this song. She’s a country girl, right? She’s got some flaws, sure—too loud, maybe a little bossy, but she owns it. Where did she come from? Do you know her? I mean, she’s pretty much all of us, but also super specific. Was there a muse?”

Alan Nafzger:
“She’s a bit of everyone, you know? I’ve met plenty of women like her. Confident, knows what she’s about, but not afraid to laugh at herself. She’s got that mix of sass and grace. I guess you could say she’s inspired by all the smart, witty, and down-to-earth cowgirls I’ve come across. And like I said before, her cooking is her way of showing she cares. If she’s feeding you, you know you’ve made it past all her quirks.”

Daisy Mae:
“Right, so if she’s makin’ you peach cobbler, you’re pretty much in! Speaking of that, I gotta know—how do cowboys fit into this? Because she seems like she’s got the whole kitchen on lock, but does this girl’s heart want a cowboy who can appreciate a good meal or one who can cook with her?”

Alan Nafzger:
“Great question! I think she’s looking for someone who gets it. She wants a cowboy who knows that life’s about more than just ridin’ fences—it’s about sittin’ down at the table and appreciating the effort she’s put in. He might not need to cook with her, but he’d better show up hungry and ready to compliment that cobbler!”

Daisy Mae:
“Hear that, fellas? Don’t bring a salad to this party. Show up hungry and humble! Now, I gotta ask, since this song’s gettin’ so much love—what’s next for you? Are you goin’ to dive deeper into country music, or is this a one-time kitchen special?”

Alan Nafzger:
“Honestly, Daisy, I’m just enjoying the ride right now. Country music’s a wild new frontier for me, and I’m all about exploring it. There’s a lot more where Peach Cobbler came from. I’ve been playing around with other songs that dive into rural life, humor, and even the quirky characters you find out in the country. I’m thinking the next one might be Barbecue and Bad Decisions—you know, just the essentials!”

Daisy Mae:
“Oh, I am HERE for that! Barbecue and Bad Decisions sounds like the national anthem of half my Saturday nights! But before we go, Alan, give us one last tidbit—what’s the one thing you hope listeners take away from Peach Cobbler?”

Alan Nafzger:
“I hope they laugh, of course, but I also hope they see a bit of themselves in the song. We all have quirks, flaws, and imperfections, but it’s what makes us human. And if you’ve got something you can do well—whether that’s cooking, storytelling, or whatever—own it. Be proud of who you are, flaws and all. Oh, and always keep some cobbler on hand—it works wonders.”

Daisy Mae:
“Preach! Y’all heard it here first, folks! Own your quirks and keep that cobbler ready to serve. Alan, it’s been a pleasure havin’ you on the show. I think I’ll head to the kitchen and whip up my own Peach Cobbler after this.”

Alan Nafzger:
“Thanks for havin’ me, Daisy. Just make sure it’s as sweet as the song!”

Outro music fades in, a mix of country twang and upbeat energy.

Daisy Mae (closing):
“Well, y’all, that’s a wrap! Don’t forget to check out Peach Cobbler and follow Alan’s journey into country music—and for goodness’ sake, if you don’t know your way around a kitchen, find someone who does. Auf Wiedersehen!”

Cue laughter and outro music.
