RUN UNITED is Aiken’s signature half marathon
Include downtown Aiken as a staple on your “must do” list for spring. The Aiken Electric Cooperative Touchstone Energy RUN UNITED is being held once again in historic downtown Aiken April 27. In its eighth year, RUN UNITED offers fun and fitness for everyone with a half marathon, 5K and kids’ fun run. The courses wind around beautiful live oak trees, horse trails, training tracks, the Aiken Polo Field and majestic properties. The downtown festival area is full of exciting activities and near exclusive shops and local restaurants.

Last year the race brought more than 800 runners to Aiken from as far as Hawaii to compete for a chance to win more than $3,700 in cash prizes. The race’s flat course highlights some of Aiken’s most charming sites. Over 600 volunteers have signed up to cheer on runners at each turn and water station.

Cash awards include $500 for first place male and female half marathon winners and additional cash prizes for all age categories. All half marathon and 5K race finishers will receive a medal. For more information, visit www.aikenco-op.org/RunUnited or register at active.com.

If you would like to explore why Southern Living Magazine named Aiken, SC the south’s best small town, RUN UNITED is an excellent start. Put the weekend of April 27 on your calendars and start planning your adventure.

Aiken Electric, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, is a member-owned, nonprofit electric utility currently serving more than 47,000 customers in a nine-county area in South Carolina.
