This will be the first time in three decades that SRS has been poised to carry out three major construction projects simultaneously, and you'll want to hear the details about the exciting potential impacts this will have for our region and the site's next 70 years as an essential manufacturing facility within the DOE Complex.

Dave Olson is Executive Vice President, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Capital Projects at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, S.C.
His responsibilities include executing the conceptional design and other pre-critical decision activities for the proposed Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility project, as well as responsibility
for the Tritium Finishing Facility and the Surplus Plutonium Disposition projects, and MOX Project termination activities.
Olson has more than 38 years of experience in project management, operations and engineering in nuclear materials processing and nuclear waste treatment in multiple government nuclear facility operations and projects.
Olson has previously led prime contracts at both SRS and the Hanford site in Washington. Prior to his return to SRNS, he held the position of Chief Nuclear Officer for Fluor Global Government Services (GGS) in Greenville, S.C., where he was responsible for oversight and support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Environmental Management projects in the GGS portfolio, which included SRNS. Olson also chaired the GGS Operations Excellence Council, which is responsible for lessons learned and benchmarking across all nuclear GGS projects to facilitate best practice sharing in safety, conduct of operations and project management.
Olson is a certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute. He received the 2004 DOE Secretary’s Excellence in Acquisition Award and was also awarded the 2008 Executive of the Year by the Savannah River Chapter of the National Management Association. He has an active outreach program for high school and college students to help them prepare for the professional working world. His talks focus on work ethics and career/life choices.
