SCORE: Developing a Business Plan

What's your plan? Does your business have one? The formal business plan provides a roadmap for your business. It demonstrates that you have determined your product or service, understood the need and market opportunity, researched the competition, and determined your costs and pricing. The business plan is a "working document", subject to change as the business changes. Once all pieces of the plan are in place, it is an effective tool for explaining your business to employees and potential lenders, and for keeping the business on track.

This workshop will discuss the purpose of the business plan, sections it should include, and basic financial statements. It will end with a brief case study in which participants will work together to develop sections of a simple business plan.
