As we continue to grow, we are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Dump Truck Dispatcher to join our dynamic team.
Position Summary:
The Dump Truck Dispatcher will be responsible for managing the scheduling and dispatching of our dump trucks to various job sites. This includes coordinating morning loads, calling contractors for verification on truck needs, adjusting schedules throughout the day as new jobs come in, and ensuring accurate communication between drivers and customers. Additionally, the dispatcher will handle customer calls, verify delivery tickets, and manage load ticket records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatching & Scheduling:
- Assign dump trucks to morning loads and adjust assignments as new loads come in during the day.
- Optimize routes and ensure timely deliveries based on customer needs, job site locations, and GLWD pit locations.
- Keep a close eye on load schedules, ensuring maximum truck utilization and efficient operations.
- Customer Communication:
- Answer incoming calls, assist customers with scheduling requests, and proactively call account customers to secure business.
- Ensure accurate delivery details are obtained and recorded for every job, including specific addresses and lot numbers, and other information as needed.
- Driver Communication & Management:
- Confirm that all delivery tickets are clear, accurate, and aligned with the customer’s expectations and requirements.
- Coordinate with dump truck drivers, providing clear instructions for routes, job details, and any schedule changes.
- Manage relationships with drivers, addressing their needs and handling personalities with professionalism and assertiveness.
- Operational Support:
- Collaborate with other team members, including office staff and mechanics, to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Maintain accurate records of all dispatched loads, deliveries, and customer interactions for future reference.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in dispatching or logistics coordination, preferably in a construction or hauling environment.
- Proficiency in Samsara fleet management software or similar dispatching tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination with drivers, customers, and internal staff.
- Ability to handle customer requests and secure additional load tickets with professionalism and a customer-focused approach.
- Extreme attention to detail when managing delivery tickets and job details, ensuring clear, precise communication about locations and loads.
- Ability to adjust quickly to last-minute changes in schedules, routes, or customer needs while maintaining efficiency.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage drivers, resolve conflicts, and maintain productive communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with CSRA geography, Roads, landmarks, and current construction developments. – 3 years
- Experience with Samsara – 3 years
- Experience with Elevate Phone systems – 2 years
- Experience with Microsoft Office or other general office management tools.
