AIKEN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT NAMES CARLA DUPERT AS DIRECTOR OF SECONDARY TEACHING AND LEARNIN
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 21, 2025
With more than 15 years of educational experience, including her most recent tenure as Principal of Jackson STEM Magnet Middle School, Dupert brings a deep well of expertise, vision, and dedication to her new role. Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the district’s ongoing efforts to elevate academic excellence across all secondary schools.
“This new role represents both a culmination and a new beginning,” Dupert shared. “It’s an incredible honor to serve a district I care deeply about. I’m excited to bring together everything I’ve learned over the years to support our schools, our educators, and, most importantly, our students.”
Over the past three years at Jackson STEM Magnet Middle, Dupert has led the school to impressive achievements. In her first year as its principal, Jackson saw a two-level increase in school climate proficiency; and in her second, students made more academic progress than students from any other middle school in the district on the South Carolina State Report Card.
“Every role I’ve held in ACPSD from science teacher to administrator has shaped my belief that leadership must be collaborative, student-centered, and grounded in equity,” she said. “I’ve learned the power of listening, the strength of community, and the importance of visionary thinking.”
Prior to her leadership at Jackson, Dupert served as Assistant Principal at Kennedy Middle School and formerly as the district’s High School Science Content Interventionist, where she supported curriculum development, professional learning, and instructional improvement across the county. She began her educational career in the classroom at Aiken High School, where she spent nine years teaching Biology and Anatomy and coaching varsity softball.
Dupert’s work is guided by transparency, shared leadership, and a belief in the potential of every student. She holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of South Carolina Aiken (Exercise Science,1998; Secondary Education, 2007), as well as a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University (2017).
Outside of work, Dupert enjoys playing golf, camping, and spending time with her close-knit family. Married for 30 years to her husband Darryl, she is the proud mother of Ayron and Landon and adores her grandchildren Canon and Dakota, who continually inspire her to see education through the eyes of joy and curiosity.
“What drew me to this role is the incredible purpose and promise I see in our District. It’s a privilege to help shape the future of secondary education in a place that values innovation, resilience, and community,” Dupert added.
Her leadership, grounded in compassion and purpose, will play a pivotal role in guiding the district forward.
“My door is always open,” she emphasized. “I look forward to working alongside our secondary school leaders, teachers, students, and families to build on the strong foundation already in place and create new opportunities for success districtwide.”
